Lost Things Matter

Today’s reading is Luke 15: 1-10

rootedchristThis week we’ll continue with some of my favorite passages.  The first two days we are looking at Luke 15 and it’s parables about lost things.  We see a lost sheep, a lost coin, and a one (actually two) lost brothers.  Today we look at the lost sheep and coin.

There is much we can see about these first two.  But when I read it, you know what I always take away?  The joy that happens when the lost returns.  A party is thrown for the sheep.  A party is thrown for the coin. These things have great value, great importance to the owner. When they are returned, all is well again.  All is right. They are back where they belong.

Lost things matter.  Lost people matter.  Lost things matter to God. Broken things matter to God.  Broken people matter to God.

Do lost things matter to us?  Do lost people matter to us?  They do to God. May they as well to us.
