You ever feel like God doesn’t love you? Ever feel like you are too far away from His love? That something has happened that is going to keep you from really knowing His love?
Do you ever just feel like you are alone?
We’ve all been there. We’ve all felt that way. We’ve all at some point felt as though God has left us, and we are totally alone in the world, totally alone in our faith. I mentioned earlier that Romans 8 is one of those chapters in the Bible that we need to really know.
Today’s passage is one of those passages that we really need to know. We need to write it down. We need to remember it. We need to mark this passage on our souls. This is one of those key passages in all the Bible. Listen to what we are told in Romans 8: 35-39:
35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written,
“For your sake we are being killed all day long;
we are accounted as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
What can separate us from the love of God? Nothing.
Nothing that is natural (hardship, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril or sword).
Nothing that is supernatural (death, angels, powers, anything in all creation).
Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ. I know that it may not always feel like it. I know that when we are going through trials and troubles and worries it may feel like God is far away. It may feel like God has left us. It may feel like we are alone.
But we are not. This is the truth of scripture, nothing can separate us from God’s love. Nothing. Don’t let what you “feel” separate you from what is real.
We may feel alone. We are not. God will never leave us, no matter what happens.
I know that we can feel this way sometimes. I know I do sometimes. That’s why we have to hold to truth, even when we don’t believe it.
Just because we feel something doesn’t make it real. There are times in our lives when we have to whisper truth to ourselves, even when we don’t believe it. Today, even if you don’t feel it, you are loved.
You are not alone.
You are not forgotten.
God loves you. And is with you. No matter what.
What can separate you from God’s love? Nothing.
