No Condemnation

2011-05-22_liberty_warehouse_condemned_notice_in_durhamYesterday we talked about the bad news.  Everyone one of us, we are all broken.  You.  Me.  Each of us.  We’ve all messed up, we’ve all made mistakes, we’ve all failed in some way.

We’ve all blown it.  It’s ok. We aren’t scum, we are just humans that need Jesus.

Today, though, we hear the good part.  Yes, we’ve all failed and sinned.  But for those in Christ, for those that accept His Lordship and follow Him, there is no condemnation.  Listen what we are told in Romans 8: 1-2:

1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

If you are in Jesus today, you are not condemned.  You are forgiven.  You are free.  No matter what has happened.  No matter what you have done.  If you are in Christ, there is no condemnation for you.

Don’t hold onto the past.  Don’t hold onto your mistakes.  Don’t hold onto those things that you have done wrong.  God doesn’t hold onto them.  Neither should you.

Today, in Christ, there is no condemnation.

When we know that, it will change our outlook.  Do we focus on who we used to be, or on who God is calling us to be?  Do we focus on our past mistakes, or on our future potential?

Do we beat ourselves up for the things in the past, or do we live in hope because we are forgiven?

In Jesus Christ today, there is no condemnation.  Do not ever, ever forget that.  You are forgiven.  You are free.  You are not condemned.

Breathe the air of a free person today.  Because that’s what you are.  Forgiven and free.

Never forget, in Christ, who you are.  In Jesus, there is no condemnation.
