Greater is He

It’s easy to be afraid, isn’t it?  It’s just a natural reaction to things.  We know about flight or fight, how it is just or instinct, in times of fear, for us to naturally want to “fly” away or to “fight.”  It’s just hardwired with in us, isn’t it?  We’ve all been there.

We all know that feeling of fear.  That feeling of dread. Some of us may be facing something now that causes that feeling to fall over us.  We are all tempted to feel that way.  When you do, though, remember the words of 1 John 3: 4-6:

4Little children, you are from God, and have conquered them; for the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 5They are from the world; therefore what they say is from the world, and the world listens to them. 6We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us, and whoever is not from God does not listen to us. From this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

Yes, there are things that are scary out there. There are things that we may rightly be afraid of.  But hear those words from John this morning.

You don’t have to be afraid.  You don’t have to be scared.  You don’t have to live defeated.  You don’t.  You have the power of God on your side.  You have the in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit.  You have God with you and living through you.

And He is greater than the enemy.  He is greater that the forces of evil in the world.  He is greater than temptation.  He is greater than anything that you may face today.

Greater is He who is in you than he is who is in the world.

Don’t be afraid.  Don’t feel alone.  Don’t feel overwhelmed.  Yeah, it’s tough.  I know it is. But greater is He is who is in you than he who is in the world.

You don’t fight the battle alone. God fights it with you and for you.  Don’t be afraid.

God has this.  Trust.  All is well.  All will be well.  He is greater than all you could ever face.
