This week we are looking deeper at the Magnificat Mary song of praise in Luke 46-56.
Today we’re looking at the world in front of the text for this passage. What does this passage mean to us and living our lives? For me, I think the thing that is so important when we read this story is that we see that Mary has been on not just a physical journey, but an emotional and a spiritual journey. She’s had this news dropped in her lap about what God is going to do, and it has totally shaken the way she saw her life playing out. That must be a stressful thing for her to have gone through, those of us who have gone through this in some small way identify and understand with that. But now in the midst of this unexpected turn, she receives confirmation of God’s presence in the form of her cousin Elizabeth. When this happens she can’t help but praise God.
It’s important in our lives for us to praise God in all the ways that we’ve seen him work period we’ve just finished Thanksgiving and in this season of 2020 I think it’s so important for us to constantly be counting our blessings because if we don’t we can only fixate upon the things that are negative or that are stressful period each of us that is breathing we have a reason to give praise and things to God. Mary understood that God had huge plans for her even if they were going to be a great challenge, and she was thankful that God was going to use her in such a way. when this happens she responds with praise.
we must be people of praise, even in difficult times. Our attitude determines in many ways how we can be used by God and used to help others. If we become consumed with negativity are consumed with the challenges are consumed with things that we can’t control we will keep our head down and unable to faithfully do the things God has called us to do. However, if we look around and see all the gifts that God has given us, if we see all the ways that God has blessed us, if we see that all is God is doing in our life, we can’t help but give him praise and worship. And when we’re doing that we’re most attuned to his spirit in most able to be used by God.
Today, what has God done for you? How has God worked in your life? and how do these things cause us to want to serve him more? He has done so much for us, and he has so much that we can do for him. Just as Mary was faithful, may we be the same
