Happy Thanksgiving. Of all the things that I’m thankful for one of the things that I’m most thankful for is the ability to get to talk with you every day about scripture. today we’re going to be looking at 1 Chronicles 16:34. This is a passage that is one of them the main passages of scripture that we think about for Thanksgiving

To understand this passage it is best to look at it in the full context of this chapter. We see that this is David’s Psalm of Thanksgiving after the ark has been placed in the tent. David is rejoicing because the ark is now in a place of worship and this is David’s Psalm of worship to God. But what is so interesting In this passage is that David is recounting the history of Israel. He is talking over and over again about the ways that God has been faithful to the people. And as he remembers God’s faithfulness he rejoices and is thankful.

 This year has been hard for many of us. And it’s easy in times like this, to think only of the challenges. Especially when some of you, frankly like myself, will be having a very different Thanksgiving. but you know what God is still good, God is still with us, God is still love. In days that are easy and carefree, we don’t always think a lot about what we have to be thankful for but on a day like today and frankly, in a year like this year, I think it’s even more important for us to name we are thankful for.

 So that’s your homework on this Thanksgiving take some time and name out loud either by yourself or with someone what it is that you’re thankful for and as you name each one of your blessings, stop and give thanks to God for what he has done for you even in this year.

 As I said one of the things that I’m most thankful for is each of you in the chance to share God’s word with you each morning. I love you each and I pray that you each have a great Thanksgiving today.
