Today’s reading is Romans 11: 1-10
Paul continues wrestling with the tension between God’s eternal covenant with His people and the truth that salvation comes through faith. He is holding these two together. God will not forget His people. Salvation comes through Jesus through grace. What does this mean? I’ll admit, I struggle understanding Paul’s words. I’ve seen this as we’ve read through Romans with my family. There are some things that I struggle to understand fully. And that’s ok. That’s the way it should be. I think of the words of Rich Mullins, “The Bible was not given to show that I’m right and you’re wrong, it was given to show that God is right and we’re all wrong.”
So, what can we learn from our lesson today? God is right. Heaven is God’s party, and He sets the invitation list. My job is to follow Jesus with all that I am and point everyone that I can to Him. In the mysteries trust God, trust His character, trust His grace.
And in the words of Julia of Norwich, all will be well.
