Reflections with Andy – The Joy of Forgiveness – Psalm 32

We are going to look at a couple of Psalms between our time in Galtians and James. We’ll pay special attention to a couple of Psalms that are important with this Lenten season. Today, we look at David’s beautiful reflection on forgiveness. This Psalm takes a walk through the journey of sin, confession, and God’s pardon of our sins. It’s a wonderful work that shows us just how important confession and forgiveness are to our faith.

Good morning! Today, as a break between Galatians and James, we’re reflecting on Psalm 32—a powerful Lenten Psalm about confession, forgiveness, and renewal.

David begins by celebrating the joy of being forgiven, contrasting it with the misery of unconfessed sin. He recalls how hiding his transgressions weighed him down, but once he confessed, God forgave him. The Psalm urges the faithful to turn to God in times of trouble, assuring that He is our protector. God Himself speaks, instructing us to follow Him willingly rather than stubbornly like a mule.

The message is clear: confession leads to freedom. When we acknowledge our sins, God is faithful to forgive and restore us. Instead of hiding our brokenness, we should bring it before Him and experience His grace.

Take time today to reflect and give God space to convict, cleanse, and renew your heart. Join me tomorrow for another Lenten Psalm. Have a great day!
