Reflections with Andy – Grace and Judgment – John 12:44-3506

Today, we see Jesus say something that is echoed often in scripture and is said so many times. Jesus did not come to judge us; He came to save us. That’s true. That’s what He tells us here. He came to save us. But He also tells us there will be a judgment. In the end, He will judge, but His word will be the judge. Did we keep His word? Did we follow His command? That will be the judgment. We stand in grace, but I, and I assume all of us, want to one day give an account to God of faithfulness. There is grace, yes. But we will all give an account—one day.

Good morning! It’s wonderful to be with you as we dive into God’s Word, continuing our study of John 12. Today, we’ll finish off this chapter by reading John 12:44-50. In these verses, Jesus speaks with urgency, summarizing His teaching and mission.

He emphasizes that believing in Him means believing in the One who sent Him, and that He has come as a light to save the world, not to judge it. He also underscores that His words, given by the Father, will serve as the basis for future judgment.

This powerful passage is a reminder of Jesus’ mission of salvation and restoration. While He didn’t come to condemn, there will ultimately be judgment for those who reject His message. However, Jesus’ purpose is to save, and His light leads us out of darkness.

This truth shows us the incredible grace of God. Jesus is not out to judge or condemn us, but to save us and lead us into eternal life. Nevertheless, this passage also reminds us that judgment will come, as God’s Word is the ultimate measure. We will all stand before God, and our actions and faithfulness will matter.

So, how do we live faithfully today? It’s a call to lift up Jesus in all that we do—our work, our interactions, and how we treat others. We may not be perfect, but when we rely on Christ’s righteousness, we stand secure. Let’s strive to live out our faith fully, leaving it all on the field, so that one day we can say we did our best for the Lord.

Thank you for joining today. Tomorrow, we’ll begin Chapter 13. Have a blessed day!
