Reflections with Andy – Trust and Obey – John 7: 25-36

We see two groups today thinking through who Jesus is. First, we see the crowd, who may initially be a little skeptical but realize who Jesus is. They see His works and believe. Second, we see the religious leaders. They see the same works as Jesus, but they do not believe. With faith, sometimes we must take that leap and obey, even if we don’t feel it or are unsure. Sometimes, we have to jump to places we may not know. That’s faith. Today, even if we do not “feel,” let us obey.

Good morning! As we continue with John 7:25-36, we see two contrasting reactions to Jesus. On one hand, the crowd is beginning to believe, questioning if Jesus could be the Messiah based on the signs and miracles He performed. However, the religious leaders remain confused and resistant, missing what Jesus is doing due to their reliance on tradition and their need for assurance before obedience.

The key takeaway here is that faith often requires us to step out in obedience, even without full understanding. We must trust and follow where God leads, believing that assurance will come after we take that leap. Like the crowd, we may sense a nudge from God, but sometimes we hesitate, waiting for everything to make sense first. Yet, as Jesus teaches, faith leads to understanding, not the other way around.

Today, reflect on what God is calling you to do, and take that step of obedience, trusting that peace will follow.

We’ll pick up with verse 37 tomorrow. Have a great day!
