Today, we see two sections held together by a key verse. The first part is about the corruption of the world and the judgment that is coming. We see how bad it is, how people are not living or leading with integrity, taking bribes, stealing, and abusing. Contrast this with 6:8, with God’s call to do justice. The second section is about God’s restoration and hope. But in the middle is verse 7, which reminds us, that we wait. We wait with expectant hope, but God is with us, and He will make all things right. We may not see what God is doing, but we believe it. We hope in it. We know that He will make it all right. We wait with expectant hope because God is God, and God is at work.

Good morning, everyone! I trust you had a lovely weekend and a meaningful Mother’s Day, though I recognize it can be a challenging time for some. Today, as we delve into Micah chapter 7, we’ll be covering verses 1 through 13. I found it fitting to combine these sections as they coalesce around a pivotal verse, verse 7.
The passage begins with a lamentation over the moral decay and corruption rampant in society. The absence of righteousness is striking, with no one remaining upright or godly. Corruption is widespread, with leaders demanding bribes and individuals conspiring together for selfish gain. The imagery of societal breakdown is stark and distressing.
However, amidst the darkness, verse 7 emerges as a beacon of hope. The speaker declares their unwavering trust in the Lord, expressing a resolve to watch and wait for His salvation. It’s a powerful statement of faith and hope in the midst of despair. The speaker acknowledges their own sinfulness but remains steadfast in their belief that God will hear their cries and bring them into the light.
This verse serves as a reminder to us all that, even in the darkest of times, we can find hope and strength in God. We may face trials and tribulations, but our faith enables us to wait with expectant hope for God’s deliverance. It’s a theme echoed throughout Scripture, where we see countless examples of God’s faithfulness to His people in times of trouble.
The passage concludes with a vision of redemption and restoration. Despite the current state of affairs, the speaker confidently proclaims that the day will come when God will intervene and bring about justice. Enemies will be vanquished, walls will be rebuilt, and the nation will flourish once more.
This juxtaposition of despair and hope is a common theme in the Bible, reminding us that, no matter how dire our circumstances may seem, God is always at work behind the scenes, orchestrating His plans for our ultimate good.
As we navigate the challenges of life, let us take heart in the words of verse 7 and wait with expectant hope for the Lord’s deliverance. Let us trust in His faithfulness and cling to the promise of His salvation. May we be encouraged to persevere in our faith, knowing that God is with us always, guiding us through the darkness into the light.
Thank you for joining me today as we explore this profound passage together. Tomorrow, we’ll conclude our study of Micah, so I look forward to seeing you then. Have a blessed day, and may the peace of the Lord be with you always.
