We read these words today, “All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.” But what does that mean? We’ve read this passage a million times. But what does this mean? What is scripture? What is its purpose? Why does it matter? Why should we care? Today let’s talk about reading our bible!
Join us for our daily reflections with Andy. In 10 short minutes, he’ll dig a little deeper into Scripture and help you better understand God’s Word.

you share my excitement for today, as it marks a significant event: the mighty Bobcats of Bogue Chitto will be competing for the state title. It’s a momentous occasion, and I know the entire Jackson metro area will be rallying behind our team as they face off against Ingomar. I can’t help but reminisce about the days when our girls’ team dominated the court, often crossing paths with Gamora in tournaments. So, here’s to the Bobcats – may they emerge victorious today!
But before we dive into the excitement of the championship game, let’s take a moment to delve into the Word of God together. Today, we’ll be concluding our exploration of 2nd Timothy chapter 3 by examining verses 10 through 17.
In these verses, Paul reflects on his own life and ministry, highlighting the trials and persecutions he endured for the sake of the gospel. He acknowledges that living a godly life often entails facing opposition and hardship. However, he encourages Timothy to remain steadfast in his faith, reminding him of the importance of Scripture.
Paul emphasizes that all Scripture is inspired by God and serves a vital purpose in the life of every believer. From childhood, Timothy has been exposed to the sacred writings that point to salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Paul underscores the transformative power of Scripture, describing it as a divine portal through which believers can encounter God.
It’s essential to recognize that when Paul speaks of Scripture, he primarily refers to the Old Testament. However, the early church regarded the writings of the apostles, including Paul’s letters, as equally authoritative and inspired. Therefore, when Paul asserts the inspiration of Scripture, he encompasses both the Old and New Testaments.
The purpose of Scripture, as Paul articulates, is to teach, reprove, correct, and train believers in righteousness. It serves as a guide for navigating life’s challenges and growing in spiritual maturity. When we engage with Scripture, we open ourselves to divine revelation and transformation.
Reading the Bible isn’t merely an intellectual exercise; it’s a spiritual discipline that fosters intimacy with God. As we immerse ourselves in God’s Word, we encounter His presence and experience His truth at work in our lives. Scripture equips us for every good work, empowering us to live out our faith in tangible ways.
In closing, let’s heed Paul’s exhortation to cherish and prioritize the study of Scripture. Let’s commit ourselves to regular reading and reflection, allowing God’s Word to shape our thoughts, attitudes, and actions. As we embark on the weekend, may we carry with us the wisdom and inspiration gleaned from our time in God’s Word.
Thank you for joining me today, and I look forward to continuing our journey through 2nd Timothy chapter 4 on Monday. Have a blessed weekend, and go Bobcats!
