This week we are going to be looking at Hebrews 12:4-29, especially verses 14-17. We’ve been talking this month about staying the course and running the race that God has for us in this time. We’ve talked about stewardship, service, and being a part of the body of Christ.
What I find illuminating about this passage is what we see in 14-17 (and of course all if is great) is the notion we see there is that we are to look out for each other. See that no one fails to obtain the grace of God. See that no one becomes embittered. Look out for one another. Take care of each other. Check on each other. Lean on each other. Be there for each other.
We don’t run this race alone. We run it together. It’s not an individual race alone. It’s a communal race. We need each other.
In this week, as you read and as you pray, think about who you haven’t seen recently. Pay attention to the names that God may place on your heart this week. Pray for them, check on this, call/text them. Reach out to them.
Take care of each other. We need each other. I want to run the race, but I want to run it with you. I need you, and you need me.
Take care of each other.
