Strong and Couragous

Over the next few weeks in our Rooted in Christ Study, we’ll be looking at some of the favorite passages from our staff at St. Matthew’s UMC. These are some of the parts of the Bible to mean to most to our staff.

Today’s reading is Joshua 1: 1-9

rootedchristToday we see God’s important words to Joshua.  In the Old Testament, there is no one like Moses.  He saw the glory of God.  He was the great leader.  He led the people out of slavery.  He was the one that God used to give the law.  He was one of the great leaders in religious and world history.  He was everything to the people.

Can you imagine following him?  Can you imagine what it would have been like to be the one that was to follow behind Moses?  What a task. It seems too much for any person.  But yet, Joshua was called for this task by God.  And we see God’s words of encouragement to him.  Be strong and courageous.  Be strong and stand.  God is with you.  The task is great.  It may seem like too much.  But God has not left.  He will not leave.  Be strong.  Be brave.  Stand.  God stands with you.

Today, your task may seem great.  It may seem too much for you.  It may seem like you can’t do it.  That is too much.  You’ll never be able to do it. Be strong and courageous.  You do not stand in this moment alone.  God is with you.  He will not leave you.  Be strong.  Be courageous.  As God was with Moses.  As God was with Joshua.  He is with you.
