Near to the Brokenhearted

rootedchristThis year we finish a “section” of our daily readings before we move to the next “section” we spend a week in the Psalms. The Psalms are so important to our faith, they say so much to us, they speak to the joy and pain, the longing, the hope, the reality of life and of faith.  Christians have always read them, and they speak to our hearts like nothing else will.  Join us this week as we read through five different Psalms.

Today’s reading is Psalm 34

The Psalms have so many beautiful phrases that stick close to our hearts. Today has one such phrase.  I love what it says in verse 18:

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves the crushed in spirit.

I love that.  It is so beautiful and so true.  The Lord is near the brokenhearted, He does save the crushed in spirit.  The Lord speaks softly to those that are hurting, to those that are grieving, to those that are in pain.  He loves them, He saves them.  He is with them.

Today if you are crushed, if you are brokenhearted, if you are alone or lonely, know this – the Lord is for you.  He loves you.  He will be by your side.  He will not leave nor forsake you.  You are His, and He is yours.
