Today’s reading is Romans 15: 7-21
As Paul begins to wrap up his letter to the Romans, we see him tell us what he speaks so boldly to the Romans. Go back and read, he really does get quite bold throughout this letter. He tells them that they are wrong, sinful, and in need of redemption. He speaks to them in a way that those who live in Rome may not be used to hearing folks speak about them. But why does he do it? He wants them to know about Jesus. He wants them to know Jesus as Lord. He wants them to come into a saving relationship with Jesus.
He will use everything at his disposal, his words, his actions, his energy, everything that he has to point as many as possible to Jesus. To those that need harshness, he will speak harsh, to those who need softness; he will speak softly. He is motivated to let everyone hear.
Today, what is your motivation? Why do you do what you do? Why do you do it the way that you do it? What is your motivation? Paul’s was for folks to know Jesus. What’s yours?
