The Extent of the Law

Today’s reading is Romans 13: 8-10

rootedchristThe law is summed up in this command.  Love one another.  That’s the extent of the law.  That’s what the law calls us to.  I want you to listen to this again.  The one who loves one anther fulfills the extent of the law.  All the commands are summed up in this command – love one another.  This is it.  This is what the law produces in us.  If you love your neighbor you won’t murder them.  You won’t steal from them.  You won’t lie to them.  Love sums up the law.

So, if we want to be holy, if we want to follow the law, if we want to do and be who it is God is calling us to be, we must love.  This sums up the law. Love.
