Righteousness

Today’s reading is Romans 10: 1-4

rootedchristToday Paul talks about trying to establish righteousness on your own.  Establishing righteousness via your own efforts, your own works, your own laws, your own efforts.  We try so very hard to do it all ourselves, and then we find ourselves lacking and frustrated.  So either we walk away from it all or we retreat back to our own efforts at righteousness.  We walk away, or we double down.  Neither of these efforts are successful.  Both are lacking.  Walking away leaves us empty, doubling down leaves us angry and unsatisfied.

The answer is not our efforts; it is the righteousness that comes only through Jesus and faith in Him.  Christ is the end of the Law for everyone who believes.  He is our righteousness and the end of our righteousness.
