Today’s reading is Romans 5: 1-11
Today’s passage has some of the most important verses in all the bible within it, or at least it does to me. Verse 7 says that at the right time, Jesus died for us. Then verse 10 says that while we where His enemies we were reconciled to God through Jesus. Here’s why I love this concept so much. When we were at our lowest. Our most unlovable. Our worst. At that exact moment, it was then that Jesus died for us. Not when we were clean or perfect or had it all figured out.
It was at our absolute worst moment, our greatest failure, our most shame, that’s when Jesus died. Not because we were worthy. But because He loves us.
Never forget that. If you feel unlovable, know that Jesus died for you at that (or this) exact moment. And if you’ve been a Christian for a long time, never forget that your salvation did not come out of your efforts but out of the efforts and grace of Jesus Christ.
