Today’s reading is Hebrews 11: 8-22
Today we see the icon of faith, Abraham. He is the one the is seen over again as the one who had faith, and that faith was reckoned to him as righteousness. Here’s what I want you to see that always moves me about this passage and Abraham. He was promised, descendants. He was promised land. He was promised all these things. And he died without seeing them. He never saw was promised. He never attained that promise. He died before it happened. He never saw it.
But he never doubted it. That’s hard. It’s easy to hold onto faith when things are falling to place around us. It’s easy to have faith when we see signs all around. It’s easy to hold onto faith when things are happening. Abraham died before receiving the promise. But he still had faith. And that faith pleased God.
Just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean that God is not doing it. Have faith, even when you can’t see it.
