How to Change the World

Today’s reading is Acts 20: 1-12

rootedchristToday’s is a favorite passage of those of us that are long-winded preachers. We may preach for a long time, but very few of us have ever preached so long that someone fell asleep, fell off a balcony, and then died.  So, as long as we are above that threshold, most of us feel pretty good about it.  As I read these continued stories of Paul, I am struck by how Paul wanted to make every situation he was a part of better.  He wanted to let everyone know about Jesus.  He wanted to bring healing when he could. He wanted to bring encouragement when he could.  He wanted to bring relief, mentorship, teaching, discipline, everywhere he could.  Paul looked to improve the world, but the way he did it was in the daily part of his life.

Today, do you want to change the world?  Make it a better place?  Work the betterment of humanity? Start small. Start local.  Start one on one. See what God does there. And see the lives that are changed because of it.
