Today’s reading is Luke 21: 20-38
Jesus is going to return one day. He is. That is part of the truth that we affirm within our creeds as Christians. He will return. This world is not our home; this world is not the end; there is something better coming. I think I used not to think too much about the return of Christ, especially for those my age and older that remember the Left Behind books. It was all the rage a few years back. I think it led to many of us becoming almost overly infatuated with the return of Christ. So, I know I would focus a little less upon it. If everyone focuses upon this, then I will turn to that.
But we believe, as a pillar of orthodox Christian doctrine, that Jesus will return. He will return, and every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess. Jesus is Lord.
Today He warns us, be ready. This world is not our home. It isn’t. As awesome as life is, this world is not our home. Something better is coming.
Be ready for it. Don’t get too attached here. Look for what is better. He will return. He has promised. And when He does, ALL things will be made right. That is hope, no matter how life is. One day, all things will be made right. Let’s never lose that hope.
