Palm Sunday

Today’s reading is Luke 19: 28-40

rootedchristToday we see, one of the most Messianic things that Jesus does in the Gospels.  He rides this donkey into Jerusalem.  In this moment, with our Western American eyes, we see this an act of humility by Jesus. But that is not what is actually happening here. This scene, riding the donkey in, is actually a sign of kingly humility. Yes, it was humble, but is also the act of a king. That’s why everyone is upset. That’s they are telling Jesus, tell your folks not to say that.

They understood in this moment that Jesus was letting all the world know that He was king. And so many worshipped.  On this Palm Sunday, the crowd came out and they worshipped.  Jesus received the praise that He was due.  He was properly worshiped.

The crowd would turn later in the week. But in this moment, He received His worship.

May we, today, in our lives, give King Jesus the worship that He is due.
