One of the things that I love that Scripture teaches is that God is easy to find. We don’t always have to look too hard. Sometimes all we have to do is just look around. When we look around at creation, when we look at each other, when we look at beauty, we can see God’s glory and God’s handiwork all around us.
Listen to what we are told today in Romans 1: 19-20:
19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 Ever since the creation of the world his eternal power and divine nature, invisible though they are, have been understood and seen through the things he has made. So they are without excuse;
God’s glory can be seen all around. It’s all over creation. It’s all over our world. It is literally everywhere. We just have to look around.
But that means that we have to pay attention, and for many of us today, that may be our hardest challenge, to slow down and look around. Too slow down and pay attention.
So many things pull and push at us. So many things vie for our time and our attention. So many things call out to us, saying “Pay attention to me! Look over here!” These things call out to us in so many ways, and they can keep us from seeing God’s glory, all around us.
Today, are you slowing down enough to look? Are we really paying attention? Or are we so busy with things, even good things, that we don’t have time to really look and listen for God? Are we so busy that we don’t have time to see God?
He’s there. We are told in scripture that He is there. We just have to look. Today, are you looking? Are you looking for God?
In creation?
In others?
In His word?
In even the small and minute things. He is there. He is. He has told us that He would be.
Today, look around. You will find Him, if you look with open eyes.
Today, may we all behold the glory of God!
