We all need some beauty in our lives, don’t we?  We all need something beautiful in our lives.  Today’s reading from Isaiah made me think about what is beauty, and where true beauty is found.

Listen to what we are told in Isaiah 52: 6-7:

6 Therefore my people shall know my name; therefore in that day they shall know that it is I who speak; here am I.
7 How beautiful upon the mountains
are the feet of the messenger who announces peace,
who brings good news,
who announces salvation,
who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”

hiking-1189873_1920Beauty is not found in the elegant things of this world, it is not found in things that passing.  But instead, it is found in ordinary, common things.

Beauty is found in dusty feet, that come declaring that God reigns.

Beauty is found in service and dedication to our God.  Beauty is found in simple acts of kindness.  Beauty if found in living in the reality that God reigns.  Beauty is found all over.

Beauty is found in me, and in you.  Beauty is found when we live that glorious call of God to live in His abundant grace.  Beauty is found everywhere.  But today it can be found in me, and in you.

Today, you are beautiful. When you carry the good news with you.  When you announce with your feet, with your motion, with your lives, with your words, that Jesus is King, you are beautiful.

No matter what the world tells you.

No matter what people tell you.

Not matter what you may even tell yourself.

When you carry out the good news of Jesus Christ, you are beautiful.  Because of the beauty of God’s grace, that flows through you.

Don’t forget that.  Never, ever forget that.  Through God’s grace, you are beautiful.
