I am the pastor of Asbury Church in Petal, MS. I am the husband of Holly, the father of Sarah and Thomas, and the son of Connie and Maxine.
And, in spite of my desire to kick against the goads, a child of God.
This is the place where I will post thoughts upon scripture, family, church, and occasionally Ole Miss Sports.

I googled your name today after it was announced at Asbury you would be coming in June as our new Pastor. I came across your blog of course and delved into your thoughts a little. I am never, and I mean NEVER one to reach out like this but I think it is a leading from God and he refuses to let me ignore it (go figure), so here goes. Just wanted to say I am, as many are, very excited about your move to Petal. I know the Bishop and others put a lot of thought into this appointment. I know change is always hard (for all of us) but I know God has a hand in this. You and your family will love being a part of our congregation as we will love having you. For some reason I already feel in my heart this is going to be a great fit and you will help lead all of us strays back to the flock even if you have to pound on our heads a little. We are a stubborn bunch, hard headed, all the things that make dealing with a group of people difficult. BUT we are also compassionate, passionate, and willing to learn. Please extend my welcome to your lovely wife, Holly, and children. See ya’ll soon – Gena
